Hahahahaha..."subtly". Awesome. Was it something along the lines of..."What are you getting a passport for? You don't need one unless you leave the country. Why would you leave the country? It snows in Canada. People die in snow. I once knew a kid...he's dead now. Canadian snow got him. Damn shame...well...guess you should go get your passport now...don't let me hold you up." I'm pretty sure that was how it went down.
