Doppelgangers

So, while [livejournal.com profile] capfox and [livejournal.com profile] kamalloy and I were waiting for [livejournal.com profile] amalthya before karaoke, we noticed that she had up a "Going to the Movies with Greg" away message. Now, I had in fact gone to the movies with her earlier (Scary Movie 3 to be precise, uneven and not nearly as good as Looney Toons parody wise, but still some funny bits. Also got a free ticket cause of a film rip) but, obviously that was not presently the case.

So, the only logical conclusion was that Laura was going with my evil twin or something. However, after I posited this theory Kate assured me that were there an evil twin, I was in fact him.

This was good to hear for a several reasons

  1. Evil twins who show up second tend to go about messing up the good twins life or possibly killing them. This seems much less likely from a good twin, although I can report from DnD experience good twins are still wont to seriously cramp one's style. :P

  2. Evil twins have more fun
  3. And in addition tend to be cooler and have better style. Although often are overly dependent on leather.

So if you see a less stylishly dressed and less cool (Yes it is possible. Grrr... ;P) version of me going around, give him my best.

Also, in later talking to [livejournal.com profile] amalthya we discovered that the "Movies with Greg" away message was up all weekend. So perhaps her doppelganger was going with my doppelganger. Hoping to get [livejournal.com profile] kamalloy's expert opinion on which is the evil one.

Seriously, if my doppelganger is anything like Willow's, you better hope you're the good twin for the sake of it not being the good twin at the movies with Evil Laura.

My expert opinion...

[identity profile] kamalloy.livejournal.com 2003-11-24 05:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, there are several theories for this.

1. The Good Laura was out with your good twin at the movies. She, being the good twin, is nice and responsible and leaves an AIM message telling where she is so people won't worry about her. The evil twin, then, sees the message and decides to leave it there, since she knows we're expecting her and this will cause chaos and confusion.

2. The Good Laura didn't go to the movies, but was somewhere else. The evil twin, then, put up that AIM message to confuse people, especially if your good twin was expecting her to join him for a movie.

There may be more theories, but evidence is pointing to the fact that the two of you who I saw on Saturday were the evil twins.

Also, a very large number of people have said I looked familiar even though I'd never met them before, which leads me to believe that I have not just one evil twin, but a whole bunch of clones. I'm fine with this, as long as one of them doesn't suddenly develop psychic powers and decide that she has to be The Only Kate.

In other words, if I'm out on a walk and I see someone who looks just like me, only with freaky glowing eyes, I'm out of there.

Seems like a wise policy.

I need to hear the evidence that the Laura on Saturday was Evil Laura!

Also: Hopefully, if Good Greg was at the movies with Good Laura, I hope he didn't get too bored.

Well, there could be more than two of you. Good Laura, Evil Laura, Fairly Nice But Occasionally Strange Laura, and so on.

In which case, my theories that it was the Good Laura at the movies with Good Greg on Saturday will probably still hold true, but there's no telling which Laura I saw. I mean, you're not going to tell, right? ^_~

I'm not wearing silk pajamas OR little slippers with red fluffies on them -- I'd have to be wearing one or both to be able to spill my guts.

Oh, and I'd need to be dancing crazy!

Good twins don't cramp your style! They just want the best for you ;)

[identity profile] grysar.livejournal.com 2003-11-26 11:40 am (UTC)(link)
True, but they tend to have an idea of what's best for you that doesn't involve as much power, fortune, or glory. :P

Omar ([livejournal.com profile] arterich) says that to be the evil twin, you need a goatee, or at the very least a mustache you can twirl nefariously.

[identity profile] grysar.livejournal.com 2003-11-26 08:32 am (UTC)(link)
Mustaches are a mark of classic villiany, but not strongly associated with evil twins though.

As for the goatee, refering to Evil Overlord rule #35
"I will not grow a goatee. In the old days they made you look diabolic. Now they just make you look like a disaffected member of Generation X."

What about a monocle?
