Question

Has anyone ever found a workable method of cleaning CDs? I want to play Deus Ex again but my CD is scratched fairly badly. Eidos charges $10 a disk, and for that price I'll just buy a cleaning kit.

I was taught a soft cloth and toothpaste.

Toothpaste is a mild abrasive that'll smooth out scratches, so you put some on a cloth and gently rub in circles from the center outward -- it worked for Coby a couple of times, I think.

There's a place off Rockville Pike that charges $3 a CD, I can give you further directions if you want.

And drat, you reminded me I've got some CDs that need polishing as well >

I would just try to find a warez site that has Deus Ex ISOs. You own the game so you're merely grabbing a backup off the net.

Starland cleans disks for between $2 and $5, depending on the severity of the damage; I had them take care of my copy of FFT and it was good as new.
