For those local friends that have expressed an interest, the memorial service will be at 11 am this Saturday, April 17th at St. Luke Lutheran Church. The service will be followed by a reception in the church's Great Hall. All are welcome.

For those wishing to know a bit more about my father that haven't seen some prior entries, here's his obit in the Post and my round up of the range of tributes he received. He was a good man who did much to connect the Maryland inner suburbs both through transit and in other ways. I have learned a great deal from him but still have many lessons to apply from his example, happily I did have the chance to tell him all that before he passed away.

Hopefully, five years from now, when the Purple Line, or at least some segment of it, is actually up and running, I will stop and pause and think about how much of it is due to what your father did.

At the same time, Greg, I'm not sure what I'm supposed to say at this ponit, but all I can offer is my condolences to you...

Thank you, that would be a lovely tribute and no more needs to be said.

I'm sorry I didn't say something sooner. Too bad I can't it to the memorial service, all the best.

There's no need to worry about the timing, hearing it every now and again a few weeks later can be in some ways a greater comfort than hearing it constantly at the start.

Thank you.

I haven't been very aware of my social media lately, so this is the first I've heard. Greg, my condolences and apologies for their lateness.

Thank you. Don't trouble yourself with the lateness, as I said above I've started to hit the point with people I see regularly where it's been a few weeks since everyone found out, so it's a good point to hear from people at a time when it's easier to give individual responses.

I think I'll post an actual eulogy after the memorial. I think I know what I want to say in broad strokes but I haven't put it down to paper yet.
