Totally unrelated to this but a part of what we were talking about last night:
About forty pages into American Gods, I suddenly really got into the book. This isn't due to the book itself, though. I just came to the sudden realization that the part of Odin should have been, in any just universe, voiced and played by Robert Preston, circa "The Last Starfighter". So I've been reading all his lines in my head with Preston's voice.
It made the book roughly three times as enjoyable, instantaneously.
